My name is Christopher Robbins and I am a journalism student at the University of Kentucky. Six UK students have travelled to Lebanon for an immersive experience in arabic culture and language and to complete journalism projects as part of the university's education abroad programs. We will use this blog to document our experiences.
While I am here I hope to learn about the prospects (or lack thereof) for secularism in Lebanese society. Future posts will explain why secularism is controversial in Lebanon and why it might be necessary to ensure the survival of a lovely little jewel perched aside the Mediterranean Sea.
